If you were given a used control unit or have to fit a new one, we move all the data from yours across. We leave it virginised, cloned and synced with the rest of the car.

What we actually do
A new unit in the box is worth nothing until it holds the data your car needs: identification, configuration, fault memory and everything the car uses to recognise it.
When cloning makes sense
- Used control unitYou get it and we virginise, clone and fit it. You buy the second-hand part.
- Brand new unitBought as a spare, it comes blank. We put your data in and it works.
- Unit from another carSame model and year with a similar configuration. It can be adapted.
- Syncing after a repairWhen we repair a board and it has to be made to talk to the rest again.
- Control unit reconstructionWe repair your original and also clone it as a backup.
When it is not worth repairing
We tell you before touching anything. If the part is too damaged, if it has been flooded with fresh water, or if there is nothing left to save, we will not make you spend money on a repair that will fail again. In that case we tell you what the new one costs and you decide.
How we do it

Read the original
We extract all the data from your current unit and save it. That is the reference copy.

Virginise the new one
If the unit has memory we wipe it clean. If it is brand new we carry on.

Write and verify
We copy the data and check the read-back. If it does not match, we stop.

Fit and sync
We fit it and set it talking to the other units and the immobiliser.

Go out for a drive
We drive the car to confirm everything works before you take it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to buy the unit myself?
If you want a used one, yes: you get the second-hand part. We do not buy them, but we virginise, clone, program and fit it. If you prefer an original spare, buy it wherever you like and we do the same job.
Is cloning the same as replacing?
No. Cloning means copying the data from your unit to another one. If the new unit already has the right data, cloning is not needed. We tell you.
Can you clone between different brands?
Only within the same system. Between different brands the data is not compatible. But it can be done when the module belongs to the same family even if the engine differs.
What if the clone fails?
Your original unit stays untouched, because we dump before writing. If anything goes wrong we go back with no problem. That is why the process always starts with a backup.
