Control unit repair

Car control unit repair at component level

Before replacing a whole control unit, we try to repair it. We open the case and find the exact point that failed: a broken track, a burnt relay, a capacitor, a melted connector or a dead memory chip. If it can be saved, it gets saved. Your original unit stays yours.

The button takes you to the enquiries and appointments form, where WhatsApp opens with the message already written.

SMD soldering

Fine solder and hot air to remove and replace components.

Tracks and relays

We rebuild broken tracks and replace relays, resistors and capacitors.

Memory chips

Reading and writing EEPROM and FLASH at chip level.

What we repair

The difference between repairing one component and replacing the whole unit is hundreds of euros. Before replacing anything, we always look inside.

Faults we can repair

  • Unit that does not power upNo power, no lights, does not start. We find the fuse or the converter that failed.
  • Broken or burnt trackOn the board, next to a connector or from an impact. We rebuild it and the module works again.
  • Burnt internal relay or fuseThere are starter, signal and power ones. We change them with micro-soldering.
  • Capacitors and resistorsThe ones that fail silently and kill the unit. Replaced with the original value.
  • Loose or melted board connectorWe replace the whole connector instead of the unit.
  • EEPROM or FLASH memoryBurnt, cracked or dead. Reading and writing at chip level.
  • Erased dataIf the memory was wiped, we try to recover what is left.
  • Failed power inputWhen the board gets no current through an external fuse or an input component.

When it is not worth repairing

We tell you before touching anything. If the part is too damaged, if it has been flooded with fresh water, or if there is nothing left to save, we will not make you spend money on a repair that will fail again. In that case we tell you what the new one costs and you decide.

How we do it

  1. Diagnosis from inside

We open the unit and measure power, grounds and continuity until we find the failing point.

  2. We give you the price

With the component located we tell you what will be repaired and what it costs, in writing. We touch nothing until you approve.

  3. Repair with micro-soldering

We replace or rebuild what is damaged, on the original board, without changing it.

  4. Test in the car

We fit it, program it if needed and go out for a drive to confirm the fault is gone.

  5. Handed back with a backup

We dump the file before writing, so if anything goes wrong we can always go back.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth repairing a control unit or better buying a new one?

It depends on the fault. If it is a relay, a track or a capacitor, repairing is usually much cheaper than replacing. If the board is too damaged or got wet, a new module is usually better. We tell you both options and the price of each before starting.

My control unit is under warranty, can I still repair it?

That decision is yours and depends on what the manufacturer warranty says. We tell you the cost of each option and you decide. We do not touch anything without your go ahead.

Do you work on control units from any brand?

Yes, practically all of them, for cars and vans, trucks and marine engines.

How long does a repair take?

A track or a relay is usually same day. Memory chips and more complex repairs, one to several days. We tell you when we know the scope.
