Spare parts take time, and that is not down to us.

Some parts take days or weeks: we order them and they arrive when they arrive. While we wait, the car stays in the workshop. We tell you as soon as we have a date, and if it drags on we say so before you have to ask.

If something stops working from one day to the next, that is another repair.

A fault shows up one day and is gone the next. If it comes back, that is a different fault and it has to be looked for again: it is not part of the invoice you have already closed. We tell you up front and we quote it for what it is, another repair.

Does not do: electronics or control units, nor bodywork and paint, nor bonded glass such as the windscreen or fixed windows.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00โ€“14:00

Iulian Keys, codes and devices

He is his own master of his trade and works for himself, with his own materials. Keys and codes come from him, as does the electromechanics of the car (windows, locks, door locks and mirrors) and the electronics of everything that is not a car: computers, consoles and audio.

See details
  • Keys and codes. Programming new keys and getting the CS and PIN codes the car asks for.
  • Vehicle electrics. Window regulators, central locking, door locks, mirrors and wiring.
  • Motors and actuators. Fans, wipers and the motors that move doors, seats and roof.
  • Wiring diagrams. He follows the circuit with the car wiring diagram when the fault does not show on the scanner.
  • Microelectronics. Opens control units, repairs tracks and chip-level components and recovers data.
  • Cloning and repair. He clones and repairs the rest of the car control units that are not engine units.
  • Device electronics. Computers, consoles and audio gear.

Does not do: mechanics or pre-ITV. And the consumer-electronics work he does on his own account, so you deal and pay with him directly, not with the workshop.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 09:00โ€“14:00

Vehicle electronics

Modules we repair and programme

A modern car is not just an engine and wheels: it is dozens of control units talking to each other over a network, and under each one there are sensors, relays and motors. When one fails, or the car will not start, or something only half works, there is almost always a module behind it. These are the ones we master.

Engine and transmission

  • Engine control unitsInjection, ignition, turbo and torque management. Repaired and programmed.
  • Power supplyLambda sensor, temperature sensor and oil pressure sensor.
  • Injection and flowInjector that does not pulse, irregular spray or an engine that stalls.
  • Emissions equipmentAdBlue, DPF, EGR and FAP, with their counters and solenoid valves.
  • GearboxAutomatic gearbox unit, electronic clutch and synchronisation.

Body and comfort

  • Body control moduleThe one that coordinates lights, doors, roof and the rest of the comfort items.
  • Door modulesWindow, central locking and mirror. We repair the board or replace it.
  • Roof and bootSunroof, convertible roof and the rear door.
  • Seats and climate controlHeating, ventilation, position memory and zones.
  • ComfortFactory lock, made-to-measure opening and central locking.

Safety

  • Airbag control unitWarning light that will not go out, crash record and a deployed airbag.
  • Braking and stabilityABS, ESP and traction control, with reading of their sensors.
  • ImmobiliserWe programme keys, decode and leave the car starting normally.
  • Camera and radarReversing camera, parking sensors and driving assistance.
  • Communication cutNetwork faults that cut communication between modules.

Instrumentation and control

  • Instrument clusterRepair, replacement, programming and syncing.
  • Radio and navigationCoding, activation and equipment recovery.
  • Power steeringPower steering and steering column with airbag.
  • Unnamed modulesThat button you do not know what it does: we find it and repair it.

Sensors and signals

  • All the sensorsTemperature, pressure, level, oxygen, rpm, ABS, rain and light.
  • Signal interpretationWe read the raw signal the sensor sends and compare it with the one the module understands. That way we see whether the sensor or the module receiving the data is at fault.
  • The sensor that is not at faultThe one that lies most is the one giving a reading when the cable is broken. That is why we measure before changing anything.
  • Adaptation and learningWhen a sensor is replaced, the module has to learn it again.

Motors and actuators

  • VentanillasWindow regulator motors that stop halfway or get stuck.
  • Locks and central lockingCentral locking, driver door and the switch.
  • VentilationCabin and radiator fans, and air that does not cool.
  • WipersA motor that stutters, wipers that do not park or a washer that does not work.
  • Seats and roofSeat motors and sunroof or convertible roof motors.

Cannot see the module you need? Tell us what the car does or which light came on and we will find it. Most of the faults we get already came from a workshop that had written the unit off.

Before changing anything

Vehicle electrics

More than half the faults we see are not control units: they are cables, relays or connectors. Before replacing a module we always check that power and the data line arrive clean. That is how we find faults nobody else saw.

Melted and corroded connectors.

The classic frayed cable or burnt connector. We repair them with proper terminations, not a knot and tape.

Fuses and fuse holders.

We look for the fuse that keeps blowing, the burnt fuse box and the holder deformed by heat. We replace the whole box, not just the fuse.

Cables and wiring.

Cut wiring, cheap splices, burnt looms and stripped branches. We rebuild the branch with a proper termination and protect it from moisture.

Branches and phantom drains.

We trace battery leaks that leave the car with no power.

Grounds and corrosion.

A loose ground gives the same symptoms as a dead module. We clean and tighten them before condemning anything.

Wiring diagrams.

When the fault does not show on the scanner, we follow the circuit with the car wiring diagram to find the exact point.

Signs the problem is electrical

  • The lights misbehave or switch themselves off
  • The car will not start even with a new battery
  • It goes flat while it is parked
  • Intermittent faults that only show in rain or cold
  • A brand new module does not work in the car
  • The window goes halfway up and stops
  • Central locking does not work on one side
  • Wipers stutter or do not park
  • The gauges move on their own with the car parked
  • Air does not cool or the blower does not blow
  • Side lights stay on
  • The navigation reboots on its own
  • The seat does not move and the warning stays on
  • The tyre pressure warning comes on for no reason
  • Reverse lights do not come on when you select reverse
  • The car starts and stops after a few metres

Tell us your fault

What we are asked for most

Faults we solve

These are the ones that come up most every week. If yours is not on the list we do it anyway: write to us and we will tell you, no commitment.

Engine units and power

When the car will not start, stalls or pulls, the cause is usually the unit or what reaches it: power, ground or a sensor. We locate and repair it, we do not replace the whole module.

  • The car will not start and the unit gives no signals
  • It stalls at low revs or pulls badly
  • The engine runs rough or goes into limp mode
  • Lambda, temperature or pressure sensors reading impossible values
  • Injector that does not respond and the engine is not smooth

Memory chips and a single module

A fault in a single module can stop the whole car. And often that module only has a dead memory chip.

  • Memoria EEPROM o FLASH ennegrecido, cuarteado o inservible
  • Reading and writing at chip level, with socket and adapter
  • A single module that leaves the car immobile and we find out which one
  • Erased data that we try to recover

The airbag control unit

The module that manages the airbag and the cluster warning. When the car has had the light on for years and the system will not reset, the problem is almost never the airbag: it is the module record.

  • Airbag warning that will not go out with no crash at all
  • Crash data stored: we erase it and the module returns to its original state
  • Airbag already deployed: we move the data to the new unit without losing the configuration
  • The car reports a fault in the restraint system for no reason

The keys and codes are also done, but they are not listed here because they do not come up every week. If you need a new key, a CS code or a PIN, write to Iulian, who handles them.

Where we work

Sectors

We work on the electronics of more than just passenger cars. These are the sectors we cover.

Cars and vans

Our bread and butter: programming, control unit repair, body modules, vehicle electrics and general mechanics.

Trucks and heavy vehicles

Programming and repair of control units for trucks, articulated lorries, coaches and fleet vehicles. Also AdBlue, EGR and DPF on heavy vehicles.

New

Boats and marine

Marine and propulsion engines. We fix communication cuts and programme their control units.

New

Farm machinery

Tractors, harvesters and construction machinery. Control unit programming and diagnosis, coming to the shop if needed.

New

Motorcycles

Programming and diagnostics for motorcycles of all engine sizes.

New

Fleets and companies

Maintenance agreements for transport companies, logistics firms and Cartagena port services.

New

And this is only the beginning. We are getting properly into the electronics and programming of trucks, boats, farm machinery and other heavy vehicles. Everything we know how to do on a car we are doing in those sectors too: reading, writing, cloning, control units, keys and map programming. If you have one of those vehicles with an electrical fault, ask us: we are getting there.

Transparent

How we work

Five steps, always the same, so you know what is happening with your car at all times.

  1. 1

    Diagnosis

We read all the modules, the fault codes and live data. We check power, ground and data. We find the root cause, not the symptom.

  2. 2

    Price of the repair

First we locate the problem. Once we know what is wrong and what the solution is, we give you the price directly and in writing. We do not touch anything until you approve it.

  3. 3

    Backup copy

Before writing to or opening the unit, we dump your original file. That way you can always go back.

  4. 4

    Work and test

We repair, programme or clone, then we go out and test the car. At the end you get it tested, not probably working.

  5. 5

    Handover and warranty

We hand over the vehicle with its backup copy of the original file and the work is guaranteed. If something goes wrong we come back.

Please noteSometimes you may see your car parked somewhere else or driving away from the workshop

For many of the faults that come to us, the problem does not show while the car is parked in the workshop. It shows up in the rain, in the cold, going over a bump, at high speed or after a while driving. So after the repair,we go out and test the car for real and we take the chance to go and buy parts or handle other jobs.

For complicated work we have to make sure it is completely ready:we hand it back only once we have checked that the problem does not come back.

Also bear in mind that the workshop is small and there is no room for all the cars we take in every day:we are not a garage, we are a workshop. You may see the car in the same spot for a long time without moving, and the most likely reason is that we have not found the problem yet or that we are waiting for the part.

How we handle quotes

The quote cannot be closed before we see the car.

With the car in front of us and the fault on the screen we still do not know which part to change, what it costs or how many hours it will take. Giving a fixed figure blind would be making it up.

First the problem is located, and then the price is given.

Once we know what is wrong and what the solution is, we give you the price directly and in writing. We do not touch anything until you approve it.

We do not touch, dismantle or replace any part without you knowing and deciding first.

If once opened something unforeseen turns up, we tell you before carrying on and wait for your answer.

Second-hand parts: you get them.

We do not buy second-hand parts, only original, OEM or guaranteed equivalent spares. If you want to use a control unit, a module or any second-hand part, you get it and we limit ourselves to virginising, cloning, programming and fitting it.

Away from cars

Electronics for other devices

What we do with a car control unit we do with the board of a computer or a console: component-level soldering, fault finding and repair instead of replacing the whole device. If it has a board and a power supply, it can be repaired.

This whole side is handled by Iulian, on his own account and with his own material. Write to him directly, not to the office.
